John G. Malcolm is the Vice President of the Edwin Meese III Institute for the Rule of Law at Advancing American Freedom. Mr. Malcolm previously worked as Executive Vice President and Worldwide Antipiracy Director at the Motion Picture Association, as General Counsel at the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, and at the Department of Justice as a Deputy Assistant Attorney General and as an Assistant United States Attorney, where he received numerous awards including the Director’s Award for Superior Performance by an Assistant United States Attorney. An honors graduate from Columbia College and Harvard Law School, Mr. Malcolm clerked for federal judges in the Northern District of Georgia and on the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Malcolm currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Washington National Opera and as Senate-confirmed member of the Board of Trustees of the Legal Services Corporation, the largest funder of civil legal aid in the United States.
