Wayne Canterbury High School – Fort Wayne, Indiana

I am a graduating senior at Canterbury High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana; I am planning to attend Purdue University Fort Wayne in the fall as a freshman, and have chosen biology as my prospective major and may also minor in music, history, or a language. I hope to pursue a career in the medical field, and my desire to do so has been strengthened by the death of my father on account of health complications. I hope to use my experience to help others in the future by caring for the health of patients to try to prevent similar tragedies from occurring. This generous scholarship from the Barber Family Foundation will help make my pursuit of a meaningful healthcare career a possibility by reducing my college expenses, which I would like to thank them for. The career path I plan on working towards is quite costly between college and professional school, and the opportunity to receive the education I would need would not be a secure reality without the assistance of outside scholarships such as the one I received from the Barber Family Foundation. Attending college will enable me to continue to expand my knowledge, explore my interests, and grow as a person, and receiving financial assistance to cover the costs associated with it is truly a gift for which I am extremely grateful.

I am an intended double major in Legal Studies and Political Economy, with the hopes of minoring in Race and the Law. I want to thank the Barber Family Foundation Scholarship for giving me the opportunity to receive this scholarship because it will be of great assistance to my educational future. It also means a lot to my family, as they are working to put my twin sister and I through college by continuing to find ways to ease any financial stress.
